It might be hot over there, but there's still a draft:

Yesterday, the news that the race had become "draft legal" came through! Having spent all winter preparing for the Quadrathlon World Cup as Series of non-drafting events, it made me a little worried to say the least. Not only had my training been tailored to riding alone for 40km over undulating and exposed courses, but I had done almost all of it on my aero bike, tucked down on my tri bars!!! Now the bike section in Ibiza will be a short multi-lap circuit, with lots of twists and turns, and will most probably be ridden in a group. (similar to that in the picture above)
I remember someone once telling me, a race is only as hard as the people in it!
So now is the time to take those words with me to the start line.
Mentally I'm there, and thanks to a great bunch of friends I will be there on a legal bike to race on. The last 24hrs have been spent rallying round the gang, getting hold of handle bars, gear shifters, different length stems and lots of other bits, all needed in order to convert my aerobike into a "draft legal" road racer.

It's now in the bag, along with my paddle and other equipment, sitting in the front room wait for the 6.55am flight tomorrow morning...
